THE MINISTER AND THE MINISTRY

Eccl. 10:10; Col 4:17

Every believer redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb is saved to serve. The moment you’re born again, the journey begins. Just as parents expects to see their baby grow, get to crawl, walk, talk and become productive adults, so God expects every born again Christian to grow and produce fruits.

It is very important for you to know your ministry and do your utmost best to be fruitful, the value of our lives after our sojourn on earth will be determined by our works here.

Who is a minister? 1Tim. 1:12; 2Tim. 4:5

  1. Someone who is genuinely born again
  2. Sanctified
  3. Saturated with the Holy Spirit
  4. Surrendered to serve whole heartedly.
  5. Sincerely, committed to the vision.
  6. Submits to leadership.
  7. Supported by divine authority and backing.
  8. Stand to represent God and leadership

What is ministry? Acts 20:24; 1Cor. 12:1-12

Ministry is:

  1. Your God given assignment in the church of God and the body of Christ.
  2. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer to be of value to the kingdom.
  3. The work of the service carried out to advance the kingdom of God in an orderly manner.
  4. Knowing the best area you can be of help to the work of God and putting in all it takes.

Truth about ministry Rom. 12:1-13; II Cor. 4: 1, 7-10

  1. Every believer has a ministry – No one is useless.
  2. You need to prayerfully discover your ministry.
  3. Ministry gift does not mean going to start your own church.
  4. Ministers must be guided to be maximally fruitful.
  5. Ministry gifts are discovered as you obediently serve through your leaders.
  6. Ministry gift are of equal importance.
  7. Unused ministry gift is a loss to God and the minister.
  8. Your promotion by God is tied to your ministry productivity.
  9. Prayers are very essential as the devil does not want any minister to succeed.
  10. Your reward here and eternity depends on your ministry.
  11. God keeps record, and rewards even here.
  12. You must improve on yourself to fulfil your ministry.

It is very important that you prayerfully identify your gifts and calling.

  • List those area that you consider you are gifted.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to make his plan for your life clear.
  • Study God’s word from time to time
  • Acquire knowledge in the area of your ministry.
  • Humbly serve through leadership.
  • Invest time and resources to make a mark and impact in your church.
  • Be ready to go anywhere and do anything that will advance the work of God.
  • Refuse to be discouraged by negative experiences.
  • Remain loyal to God and leadership, don’t join rebels.
  • Commit your life to serve God fruitfully to the end and expect your reward from Him.
